Low rate of metabolism: There are many reasons why an individual has low metabolism. An unhealthy diet, aging, stress, and lack of exercise are some of the major reasons why an individual will have low metabolism. Many people are under the misconception that crash diets are a form of short cut to losing weight. However, this can be the main factor in determining why a person has a low metabolism. If the body is starved for an extended period of time, then it receives a normal level of nutrients it will store a large amount of calories, which will result in weight gain.
